On The Line Book Launch

On the Line, a history of the BC labour movement was officially launched May 1, 2018 at the Hilton Metrotown, Burnaby, B.C.. The book launch was a huge success as over 400 people attended the BC labour Heritage Centre event and guests included the CSCU Board of Directors, Premier John Horgan, several MLAs and the trade union community.

At the book launch, Phillip Legg, Chair, Board of Directors, spoke on how supporting this The BC Labour Heritage Centre project was so important as it was ideally aligned with the credit union’s vision. As the sole Funding Sponsor for this ambitious BC Labour Heritage Centre project, Community Savings received sincere gratitude and many accolades during the event from Ken Novakowski, The BC Labour Heritage Centre, Irene Lanzinger, BC Fed, and Author Rod Mickleburgh. As part of the recognition from The BC Labour Heritage Centre, an impressive framed print of the On The Line book cover was presented to Community Savings.

The book launch was a celebration and confirmation of how labour organizations have positively influenced BC’s economic, political and social fabric. Community Savings is thankful and grateful we could offer our support to The BC Labour Heritage Centre and help realize this important historical project.
