Me-to-Me Transfers


This online banking feature enables you to securely transfer money between your Community Savings accounts and accounts you have at other Canadian Financial Institutions.

Both the Me-to-Me Transfer & Me-to-Me Business Transfer features give you greater control over your financial affairs. Using your Community Savings account, you’ll be able to:

  • Pull funds from your accounts at other Financial Institutions
  • Send funds to your accounts at other Financial Institutions

How quickly is the money transferred?

The speed of the transfer will vary depending the Financial Institution with which you link. The transfer time may range from instantly to a maximum of 5 business days. However, for security reasons, there may also be a 3-day hold placed on incoming funds by the receiving institution.

Can I schedule automatic transfers?

Yes, you can set up daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly transfers. However, since other Financial Institutions might place a 3-day hold on incoming funds, we recommend that the funds are transferred 3 days in advance of when the money needs to be accessed in the other account. This will ensure that your funds reach their intended destination on time.

Can I transfer US funds?

No, transfers can only be made in Canadian funds between your CAD dollar accounts at Community Savings and other Canadian Financial Institutions.

How to set up a Me-to-Me transfer link

  1. Log into online banking
  2. Click on “Transfers” from the left-column menu
  3. Click on the “Add a link to an Account at another Financial Institution” link and follow the instructions located at the top of the External Account Link Authorization form
  4. Activate your link with a cheque from the other Financial Institution or a pre-authorized debit:
    Cheque:
    By including a personalized cheque for $1.11 with your External Account Link Authorization form, you will be able to use your Me-to-Me link within 5 business days of Community Savings receiving your form.
    Pre-authorized debit: Once you send in your External Account Link Authorization form, you will need to review your external account for a pre-authorized debit for an amount under $1.00, automatically initiated by Community Savings. Upon identifying the amount, please call 1-888-963-2000 and inform the representative that you are calling to activate a Me-to-Me link.

Note: Your external accounts at other financial institutions must be activated within 45 days of the request; otherwise, Community Savings will need to cancel your request.

How to perform a Me-to-Me transfer

Once the Me-to-Me Transfer link is established, your external account(s) will be selectable from the “Transfer From” and “Transfer To” drop-down fields in MemberDirect’s Transfer Funds page. Using this page, you can quickly and securely manage your funds located in external accounts.

Details

  • The INTERAC® E-Transfer feature is NOT available for personal account that require two or more signatures to perform a transfer.
  • All Me-to-Me transfers are free. If you have a packaged chequing account, these transfers will also not count towards your eligible monthly transactions.
