Member Card


Please note that old member cards stopped working on July 10, 2018. New Member Cards were sent out and were programmed with the PIN that you are currently using on your old Member Card. You can quickly activate your new card by completing one INTERAC chip transaction using your current PIN.

Community Savings is pleased to introduce new Member Cards with chip technology, personalized with the latest INTERAC Flash® technology. INTERAC Flash® is contactless which allows you to conveniently and securely make smaller everyday purchases at select merchants without having to insert your card or PIN. Simply tap your card at a merchant that supports INTERAC Flash® technology – It’s quick and safe.

Important steps when you receive your new Member Card
  • Sign the back of the card on the signature panel.
  • Activate your new card as soon as you receive it by completing one INTERAC chip transaction using your PIN.
  • Destroy and safely dispose of your old Member card as it is no longer valid
  • The INTERAC Flash® technology on your new Member Card will be activated after you have completed one INTERAC chip transaction using your PIN.

ding-free®

Your Community Savings MEMBER CARD® gives you access to thousands of ATMs across Canada. As a Community Savings Credit Union member, many of those Canadian ATMs are ding-free®, meaning you aren't "dinged" for every ATM transaction. 

What does ding-free mean? It means that members never have to pay surcharges at Credit Union and other participating ATMs across Canada for withdrawals, deposits, and balance inquiries. It's ding-free®, from Canadian sea-to-sea!

When you use your Community Savings Credit Union Member Card for a purchase, you’re protected with the following Free benefits:

Free Buyer Protection

This coverage covers protection on the purchase of most retail items – and that includes gifts!

For a full 120 days after the purchase, the item is protected if it’s stolen, dropped and broken or even consumed by a fire.

Making a purchase with a cheque? No problem! As long as the cheque is drawn
on your insured account, you receive the same protection for your purchase.

Valid claims will be satisfied either by replacing the stolen or damaged item, or by a cash payment in an amount that does not exceed the total purchase price.

Free Extended Warranty

The program doubles the warranty period of a purchased item up to two years, as long as the manufacturer’s warranty is valid in Canada for five years or less. For example, when you purchase a blender, the manufacturer would typically offer a one-year warranty.  But, if you use your credit union debit card for the purchase, the blender would be protected under the terms of the original warranty for an additional one year period.

Best of all, there are no applications and no extra costs! It’s all included with your Community Savings Member Card.

Total Contactless Spend Limit:    $200

Default Contactless Limit:            $100*

Petroleum Contactless Limit:       $100*

Groceries Contactless Limit:        $100*

 

Once the total ‘contactless’ spend limit is reached, you will be required to enter your PIN and this limit will reset.

*Some merchants may have set different contactless limit than shown above.
